What’s the Difference Between a Socialist and a Liberal?
Suppose we call every act of government, every tax, every regulation, and every new program socialist. In that case, we will not only dilute the meaning of the word, but we also confuse our generation and make them think “socialism” is just government action or involvement. That leads to people our age saying, “okay, then I guess I’m a socialist.”
But here’s the big situation: we have real socialists in America who plan to take over private businesses who are literally admitting on their website that as they work to build a plan to take over a private company, they will start by advocating for higher taxes and more regulation to help the state gain control of the businesses slowly. Wow. This means we still can’t call everyone a socialist, but we have to be wary of every step, liberal or socialist, to increase taxes and increase government power.
