Spicy Spotlight: Obama Takes Responsibility For Division In USA

There’s a lot of buzz right now about Former President Barack Obama’s new memoir, “A Promised Land,” about his Presidency. He reveals many interesting, fun facts, like that Michelle didn’t want him to run and that he’s a smoker. One thing that caught my eye was that he blames himself for the polarizing divide between political ideologies in this country. He talks about it in his book, but he also spoke about it years ago during his last State of The Union address.

The truth is, he’s right. And that’s not me saying that as someone who didn’t vote for him; that’s me saying that after looking at the data. Back in 2014, PEW Research did a study with 10,000 adults nationwide on political polarization in America and discovered “partisan antipathy is deeper and more extensive – than at any point in the last two decades.” You can look at the charts in this article and see that right about 2008/2009 for both liberals and conservatives, our animosity with each other dramatically starts to rise.

I’d love to see PEW do this research again in 2020 to see where we’re at now, but at least we know the truth. This country’s political divide didn’t begin in 2016, as the left likes to say when they wag their fingers. It started two terms before.

“I want to congratulate Turning Point because you’re creating a change that will affect us for decades.”

- Rudy Giuliani
