There is no one size fits all approach when it comes to parenting. It mostly consists of a trial and error approach that varies wildly among different cultural demographics. However, there IS one basic universal truth: Do not steer your child down a path that’ll lead to harm.

Arguably, when it comes to the LGBTQ community, many parents have built upon this foundation of parenting a structure of lies that’ll likely crumble to their feet as time goes on. The new “woke” method of letting the child decide for themselves (as if they know any better) whether they want to be gay, straight, trans, or other new-aged fanciful definition, is a parenting strategy as confusing as are the parents themselves. Case in point, a Christian mother’s self-shot video of her explaining to the world how she raises her trans child:

As the woman in question goes into her self-aggrandizing tirade, making sure to record her “benevolent” self instead of the child she is referencing, she touches on a number of subtle concepts that I believe are worth exploring. Before continuing on in this article, (for those who have not done so) please go back and take the time to watch the video to understand the proper context for which I wish to address this parent’s folly in relation to her transgender child.

First off, no one said nor asserted that she should NOT love her child. Her presupposition of love for children who “come out” is something we all agree with. However, let me be perfectly clear – not agreeing, supporting, or accepting someone’s lifestyle, and even correcting or rebuking them is NOT tantamount to a “lack of love.”

Secondly, as a parent, our job is to guide our children down a path that’ll contribute to their healthy mental, physical, and emotional development. NOT down a path that will contribute to mental instability, which typically results in unhealthy permanent physical alterations done to one’s body.

Thirdly, as CHRISTIAN parents, our job is to, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it”- Proverbs 22:6. We are to guide our children spiritually, which includes course-correcting them when they start falling for alluring temptations presented by the world.

Lastly, as a CHRISTIAN, we are not to be a stumbling block for others by promoting principles that are directly contrary to the Word of God. By promoting (as a Christian) the very lifestyles the Bible expressly condemns, and acting as if this is ok, we have the potential to do irreparable harm to those within our area of influence.

As stated earlier, parenting is not a one-size-fits-all, but it is a journey committed to producing a morally sound, stable, and healthy member of society who is fully able to contribute in a positive way and manner. Moreover, a Christian parent should be able to do so while also incorporating Biblical precepts that will undoubtedly run counter to the world’s way of operating. Although society may deem the Christian approach too “extreme” (which is a compliment in comparison to their lackadaisical style of parenting), it would behoove us to do so, fully understanding why it is necessary.

So, be a Godly parent, and truly help your child grow as you nourish their spirit, training them in such a manner that’ll prove to be proper in due time, as you adhere to God’s model of parenting, not the world’s.
